Special American Business Internship Program (SABIT)

Six interns from ukrainian grain trading companies and a research institute participated in this three-months training program. They became familiar with the grain market in the USA, commodities and areas of their production, transportation system in the country and export logistics, grain reprocessing capabilities, risk management mechanisms, biotechnology processes and benefits, quality and weight controls procedures, impact of seed industry in grain production, US government policy in agriculture and its logic, available financial sources for export from the US, and American culture.
Major achieved goals of the program were as follows:
- Familiarity with US agricultural input, product, and equipment markets
- Knowledge of government policies and regulations in agriculture
- Knowledge about farm operations and product processing
- Skills in managing seed and grain supply channel operations, logistics and transportation
- Knowledge of genetically modified grain
- Inform US producers about Ukrainian agricultural markets
During and internship the trainees had an opportunity to improve their leadership and management skills both theoretically and practically through accessing the online course on Leadership and Group Dynamics and observing management practices in companies they visited. We believe this experience will positively impact their capabilities and they will grow faster as strong leaders in their organizations.
