From 1994-98, ten professors from Iowa State University made several month-long visits to the National Agriculture University of Ukraine for this educational reform project. Professors participated in issue teams to discuss the degree structure of NAUU, student services such as advising and placement which are necessary in a market-oriented economy, methods of instruction, and administrative restructuring. 20 NAUU professors who spent time at Iowa State University have already incorporated many changes in curriculum, materials, and teaching methods. Department seminars and developing teaching materials are also an important aspect of this linkage project.

The Linkage project has had a positive impact on both institutions and has led to NAUU revising and restructuring undergraduate curricula, developing and acquiring educational materials, significantly advancing its continuing education role serving audiences throughout Ukraine and developing new administrative structures consistent with its mission as a national university with direct responsibility for 22 colleges of agriculture throughout Ukraine. ISU and NAUU will continue (1) development of the Institute of Agribusiness, (2) organization of MS Degree programs; (3) dissemination of our experiences in education reform throughout Ukraine; and (4) co-sponsor an international symposium on Global Agricultural Education scheduled for Sept. 27-30, 1998 in Kiev.
